Day 5: 6 of Cups, Again?

Day 5 of Desert Divination: We’ve got a stalker!

Before I let the ol’ brain box spill out all over the keyboard I want to acknowledge that I’m showing myself a little grace and not beating myself up for being a little late to share this cards story. I needed a breather from all the chaos, and I knew anyone who was heading over here to read this would show me the same grace and allow for a little wiggle room on the timing of the message and I thank you for it.

That said, here we go!

In the world of tarot, when a card keeps popping up for you, we call them stalkers. Something about that card needed to be recieved, and it wasn’t. Or, maybe it was recieved but it wasn’t shared, integrated, or acted upon, so it’ll pop up again. In this case, we got the 6 of Cups. If you remember from a couple of posts back, the 6 of cups is about giving and recieving and I wrote about how oftentimes, we can give and without expectation, we end up gaining far more. We start to attract that same energy of giving.

This time, I quite literally gave.

Full transparency: I was a little disappointed because it was a repeat card. I was hoping to get a new theme, or ideal, or principle to ponitifcate about and share all the juicy bits with you all. Instead, I was trying to think of a way to not come off like a broken record. (Funny when you consider my line of work out here.) As the day wore on and on, I was beginning to realize a couple of things, 1, I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of the card, (& never did until roughly 1 am and the entire field was cleared) and 2, no new message was coming through. Rather than dwell, I let both of those things go and kept working. Finally, around 8:30 pm, a full 12 hours after I pulled the card, I decided I needed food. I went to the Food Market and picked where I would spend my desert dollars (meal tickets / food vouchers). As I was waiting in the extra long line (because I waited too long, my bad) I realized I had some extra vouchers in my pocket that I wasn’t going to use. I tried to brainstorm logical ways to use them when all of a sudden I thought of the 6 of cups card. And herein lies the magic of these cards. I immediately did a minor amount of math to see how much the most expensive meal on the menu would cost, (plus whatever beverage one might want), and handed that amount of vouchers over to the very nice woman standing behind me in line. “Dinner is on me.”

She was entirely confused. First, she thought I was a creep, lying to her, and / or trying to get something from her. This is where we are; A gesture of kindness and generosity is immediately met with skepticism, sadly, understandably. But when she realized it was legitimate and I was simply trying to share, she was so grateful. She ended up asking me all kinds of questions and we had a lovely conversation until we both got our food and went our separate ways. No strings attached.

Being able to do that felt massive. I hope that she took that gesture with her, and it maybe made her day a little better. Even if she doesn’t pro-actively, “pay it forward,” hopefully just being on the recieving end of a kindness made her a little more patient with someone or a little more compassionate, or even joyful. I didn’t want to add any sort of caveat or obligation on her end. I just wanted her to have a nice meal and to treat herself.

I believe in the practical application of lightwork. Sometimes lightwork is very high minded, but sometimes it’s just surprising a stranger with something they already wanted, on their terms, with no expectation in mind. These are the ripples of connectedness and humanity that we can project into the greater world, if we just take the moment, pause, and do the thing.

Now Go. Love.
(It feels so good.)
