To add to my original thoughts, the 10 of Swords is traditionally a fairly unwelcome arrival in a spread. Obviously it depends on the spread and what is being asked, but in the Rider Waite Smith deck, the deck that is probably the most recognizable deck of today, it’s a person splayed out, face down on the ground with 10 swords penetrating its back. It’s a relatively gory image. Whenever I have pulled this card however, it has almost always been spot on. There are so many lessons to be learned by finality. One of which being, is finality even finality? Or is it just the start of a new paradigm? Is it such a radical shift, that you don’t even realize it’s not the end, it’s the start?
Earlier this week I was watching a friends Live and it inspired me to write out this intention for the Full Moon in Aries; “I release any and all previous identities that I voluntarily adopted and used as shields and distractions.” So much of my past (and I bet I’m not alone here) has been wrapped up in taking on titles, roles, and identities to either shield me from pain or distract me from going after the things I want. That may seem strange, but to put yourself out there in earnest and to go after what you want unapologetically, can be terrifying. I share this to hopefully inspire someone to be vulnerable with themselves and to not only admit to previous behaviors that might not have been the most healthy, but to honor them, thank them for their service, and bid them the fondest farewell as you embark onto something new. Evolution is a gift and that is what I see when this card comes up. Sure, it might hurt, but it means you’re evolving, and that is so quintessentially human, I couldn’t love it more.
