You barged in.
Ugly and uninvited, as always.
This time, you apologized.
Necessarily.
35 years late, but what’s time?
By the time I was 12 you were already a ghost.

You introduced me to violence at the tender age of tender.
That became my baseline.
I needed you to know the damage from the mouth of the damaged.
You hurt us, and while I accept your apology, that will be all from me.

In the heat of our mutual astral fury
I gifted you the grace of repentance.
Help the boy you robbed and neglected in favor of your ego.
Help the one who suffered most because you couldn’t evolve.

You still come to me.
I’ll allow it.
You sit on my bench and we discuss reality.
Whatever that means.
The violent baseline has been substituted
with raw, unabashed authenticity,
for better or worse.
We can partner for the greater good.
And while there is no love lost,
there is the potential for constant healing.
